After attending initiations at Sheesha Naaga Camp in Bristol, members of Tamion Camp and Templum Amoris Lodge from beautiful York went out to explore the English countryside.
We went to Uley Long Barrow in Gloucestershire, also known as Hetty Pegler’s Tump after a 17th century owner of the field. It is a Neolithic burial mound, near Stroud, aligned on the early-May sunrise. It is thought to have been built sometime before 3,000 BC along the ancient road which is now the B4066.
Then we went on to Nympsfield Long Barrow. The name ‘Nympsfield’ is from the Celtic nimet meaning ‘holy place’. We sat in the sun and ate a picnic of the last of the previous day’s feast, watching the hawks circle above us in adouration of our hawk-headed mystical lord.
It was a really lovely day and the most wonderful way to end a weekend of many Man of Earth initiations. Congratulations to the new initiates.
We are now planning our events for the next few months at Tamion Encampment.
Precise times for these events are yet to be confirmed and dates may be subject to change as yet but the following events are in the process of planning.
- Gnostic Mass Class – April 25th
This ever popular class will be taught by the writer and musician Rodney Orpheus and will focus on the practical performance of the ritual. Rodney has taught this class in many countries, and it is always a very informative and popular class. If you are interested in learning more about this ritual and its function as the central private and public ceremony of O.T.O. then this is a very informative and enjoyable way of doing so.
This class will be followed by a performance of the ritual.
- Minerval Initiations – May 9th
The Minerval initiation is the first initiation into O.T.O. and is open to all people who are free (not in prison) and of full age (over 18), with two sponsors who are already members of the Order. - Man of Earth Initiations – June 20th
The Man of Earth encompasses the first 4 degrees of O.T.O. and we will be holding initiations from I* to III*. Application for initiation is open to all those initiated to Minerval and above. Forms must be completed and returned to the Body Master no later than Wednesday 20th May for initiation on this date.

Each Thelemic year starts on the northern-hemisphere Vernal Equinox, coinciding with the Thelemic holiday called the Feast for the Equinox of the Gods. This is often observed on March 20th of the common calendar but truly occurs at the exact time of the Equinox.
Some Thelemites assign the twenty-two years of each cycle to the twenty-two Trumps of the Taro, which would mean that we have just left the year of the Tower and are now beginning the year of The Star.

Celebration of Liber XV The Gnostic Mass. Sunday 8th March 2009 11am
Gnostic Masses at Tamion Encampment are open to all who wish to attend by invitation.
Those attending the Mass that have been confirmed into the E.G.C. should bring their white robes to wear. If you wish to be Baptised or Confirmed into the church then please contact the Camp in advance.
There will be a small lunchtime feast after the Mass, please bring food and drink to share with others for this.

Saturday 7th 2009 6pm
To celebrate of one of the ‘Feasts of the Times’ as set out in the Book of the Law, we will be performing a liturgy for a celebration with Sol in the Succedent Decan of Aquarius created by Scarlet Woman Lodge.
This will involve a small, elegant candle lighting ceremony reminiscent of both the pagan Imbolc and the Christian Candlemas but with added starry-ness! The sun is passing through Aquarius, corresponding to the element of Air. The pertinent god-form is that of Nuit-Isis.
There will be a celebratory feast after the ritual, with a starry and water theme. Please bring a contribution of food or drink to share with others for this.
Saturday 7th March 2009 12pm
This class is intended for those who have recently received initiation into the degree of Minerval and is also very useful for all initiates to take a closer look at the text of the ritual.
We will be walking through the ritual and discovering its workings by exploring it and asking questions. This will not be a dry ‘sit down and be lectured to’ class so come prepared to get involved and ask any questions you might have.
It is open to those initiated to Minerval and above only, ritual scripts will be provided.
Please arrive at 12pm for a light lunch before the class which will continue as long as in ncessary for everyone to ask thier questions. We will finish no later than 4.30pm
